Asakivle reaching out to help Haiti
Local organization starts organizing relief effort
Concern is mounting for Franck Desire who left Buffalo three years ago to return to Port-au-Prince. Many agree no one did more to bring Haitian culture to Buffalo than Franck. He brought dancers here and Haitian artwork, making sure the proceeds wound up in the pockets of the artists. He performed at more than a hundred schools, and created Asakivle: Buffalo Friends of Haiti

Franck Desire survives Haiti earthquake
News 4 has just learned some good news about a man who moved from Buffalo, back to Haiti.At the headquarters of Buffalo Friends of Haiti, members have learned that the group's founder Franck Desire has survived the earthquake, in Port-Au-Prince.

Local Haitian leader has survived quake
Desire created Asakivle and brought culture to WNY
Word has finally arrived that Desire, the man from Haiti who had brought his country's culture to Buffalo in so many different forms, made it through the nightmare in Port-Au-Prince. Now, through a Facebook entry made in Haiti by a friend of Desire's, his friends and relatives here in Buffalo know that he survived the earthquake.

WNYers unite to help quake victims
Local organization starts organizing relief effort
Western New Yorkers are doing what they can to help the quake victims. Kenmore firefighter, Dale Clear loaded a truckload of relief items from the group Asakivle Buffalo Friends of Haiti. Dale volunteered after hearing about Asakivle's plea for help on News 4 two days ago..

Local organization starts organizing relief effort
Asakivle.org is a non-profit organization that was set-up in response to the four hurricanes that struck the caribbean nation of Haiti in the fall of 2008.The two were supposed to be on a flight to Port Au Prince Thursday, delivering boxes of donated items to the struggling people of the impoverished nation.
